Final Outcome for Level3: A booklet for clearing up misunderstanding of skaters
To whom/What do I want to teach?
-> Level3: Adults
(who don't have a good impression of skateboarding/skaters)
-> Something that can clear up misunderstanding of skateboarding and skaters.
How do I want to tell?
Based on the research and type/stereotype assignment I did in the past week,
-> Show their history, culture and background
-> The reason why they seem dangerous
Which Media to use?
=> Booklet
(physical reading material that makes it accessible to the elderly)
Level 2: Teenagers aspiring to be a skater
For the instruction based on the second level, teenagers, I designed a visual slang word “dictionary”. At first I wanted to focus on the slang words itself but later on I discovered that small images can work in a conversation. For instance, at WhatsApp, you can send stickers to each other which are actually more evolved emoji’s. The stickers translate as words or in this case signals. In this way the teenagers can interact with the slang words without being around someone talking like that. They can use slang through stickers on social media
Also I’ve made a pattern in which I translated a story of the skater. Shown at the bottom it goes as a story. First a hit, kick turn etc. With this pattern you can make, for instance, wallpaper.
